Fat Spoon Cafe is a rustic and cosy little eatery event space in Damansara Uptown (previously known as Damansara Utama), owned and run by two sisters, Melissa and Michelle Pong, together with their mother. It was incorporated in the middle of 2010 and their unique repertoire of Nyonya-inspired delights is an amalgamation of Grandma’s Recipes and Gen-Y ingenuity. The two sisters also written a cookbook named “The Fat Spoon Cookbook”, where their great passion and wonderful personality for good food are well reflected. The old-school recipes and favourites from their family tradition, revitalised by a youthful zest for new flavours and cooking techniques, are some genuine creations that showcase the two sisters’ inventiveness and flair for marrying old and new. Highly recommended items from their Peter and Jane storybook menu are the Ulam Fried Rice, Perut Ikan Rice, Claypot Lou Shu Fun, Dry Spicy Beef Macaroni, Pumpkin Fritters, Sago Gula Melaka, Passionfruit Crisps and Cempedak Spring Roll. Besides their success story in running Fat Spoon Cafe, the two sisters have also launched another new restaurant named “Mei by Fat Spoon” located in Desa Sri Hartamas in 2015, serving contemporary Japanese Cuisine.

Event Venue

Walking into Fat Spoon Cafe event space is like going back in time and walking into your grandparentís house. The whimsical rustic and vintage decor definitely comes with quirky details. The antique doors, the use of wooden ladle as door handles, exposed bricks wall, mix and match of recycled chairs, plywood, wooden stools, rattan sofas, the carefully selected antique ornaments, old photos, wooden larder and kitchen utensils handing on the ceiling sure spark a great deal of nostalgic memories. At night, you will see their fairy lights being lighted outside at the door. This event space is definitely very cosy, comfortable, rustic and welcoming and your guests will feel like they have been invited back to your village home for a special treat. They have even done a movie and dinner party at this event space before. What do you say about having your guests come in their most comfortable attires, sit back casually to enjoy Grandmaís choice of Nyonya food while watching a P. Ramleeís movie together? How cool is that?

Fat Spoon Cafe is a rustic, cosy and comfortable event space with indoor and a small section of outdoor seating. This wonderful event space is suitable for hosting a birthday party, family reunion, anniversary, bridal shower, engagement party, baby shower, vintage theme party and small scale corporate event. It can accommodate up to 40 pax.

Location

Fat Spoon Cafe is located at Damansara Uptown, same row as Wondermilk and TM, facing the residential area. While getting here is easy enough, securing a parking space can be very challenging especially during the day on working weekdays. However, the parking situation usually eases up at night and during weekends. There is underground car park available but might be quite a walk away.
