Planning Your Event
Planning and designing an event is a big thing. Whether it’s a corporate event, a wedding reception, a kid’s party or a surprise birthday party, there are just so many things to look at. The good news is we have come up with a quick guide to help you plan your next event successfully.
1. Your Team of Planners
Get a team of people that you can work with and that is on the same wavelength. Planning an event doesn’t just happen by itself. It’s painful to have to work with people who have a totally different idea of what the rest of the team is doing. You could do it all yourself but then you’ll usually end up burning yourself out and not be able to enjoy the event.
2. Communicate Early & Clearly
Communicate early and clearly to your team on what needs to be done. For example, invites need to be sent out early, so planning ahead is important. Following up on the RSVP list is important too and this needs to be done way ahead of the event. Ask them questions to check whether they understand what their task is. It also doesn’t make it feel like you are instructing them on what to do.
3. Choosing an Event Venue
Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya have many wonderful event venues to choose from. VMO.rocks wants to make it easy for you to find all these event venues so you can plan your dream event easily. Need a hall for violin recital, a dance performance, a wedding reception or need a small cafe with a pre-war theme for a private, cozy & thematic party, VMO.rocks helps you find that.
4. Catering, Photographers and Other Services
Sometimes you want to be able outsource some of the tasks to others. If you are looking for a caterer, a photographer, audio visual equipment rental, a musician or a band, a balloonist or a clown for a kid’s party, once again VMO.rocks makes that easy for you.
5. Program for Your Event
Having a program helps to make sure that your event would move along. It also gives your guests an idea of what to expect when they come for your event. Event Planners can certainly help here to take headache out for you.
6. Location & Parking
Living in a city, it means that we have to face an inescapable truth, traffic jams are almost everywhere. Plan the time of your event, consider where your guests are coming from and whether your event venue is easily accessible by car or other forms of transport and is parking available.
7. Time of Your Event
While having an event in a bungalow is cool, you sometimes need to consider whether it would be suitable to have a late event there. Being an inconvenience to the neighbours may not serve you well in planning the perfect event.
8. Post Event Activities
Send out thank you notes and of course post it up on social media (if your friends are OK for you to post up their pictures), so that it generates buzz for your next event.
