Halia Inc. is a restaurant and coffee bar located in a beautifully renovated customs warehouse along the Melaka River in central Melaka. Halia Inc. began with romance when a Malaysian girl (Sharafinah) met a boy (Stuart) in Melbourne. After discovering a shared love of cafe culture, two weddings and an international relocation, they found the perfect spot to open a modern riverside eatery; with a vision to help kick-start a vibrant food, culture and arts movement in Melaka. Inspired by the best cafes of Melbourne and the up-and-coming food scene in Kuala Lumpur, Halia Inc. serves a mixture of western food and a few local favorites, along with authentic espresso coffee, cakes and breads baked on premises.

Event Space

With an industrial minimalistic design that mimics the original warehouse concept of the building, Halia Inc. Restaurant and Coffee Bar is an event space that is both tranquil and pleasing to be in. The cavernous interior has a painted exposed ceiling, recycled wood paneling, red brick walls, polished cement flooring and ornate metal dividers that separate the enormous space while still allowing light and a sense of openness to pervade. There is a coffee lounge section with comfortable lounge chairs, dining area with wooden tabletops paired with metal chairs or retro-looking booths, window bar with high chairs as well as outdoor patio.

Events

Halia Inc. restaurant and coffee bar is a modern and casual event space with both indoor and outdoor seating. This relaxed and spacious event space is suitable for hosting birthday party, baby shower, full moon party, bridal shower, wedding, anniversary, proposal and engagement party, reunion, farewell party, corporate gatherings as well as get-together with family and friends. Halia Inc. can accommodate up to 300 pax, with around 100 pax indoors and 200 pax outdoors.

Location

Halia Inc is located in a 100-year-old former customs warehouse at Jalan Merdeka, Melaka. It is housed in the same building as the three-star Quayside Hotel along the Melaka river waterfront. Centrally located, it is only a minute’s walk from the Stadhuys Red Square – a well known tourist landmark in Melaka. There are several reserved parking spaces for customers outside the restaurant and additional spaces in a pay parking area.
